Dr. Thacher earned his medical degree from Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons as a Dean’s Scholar and graduated as a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha honor society. He completed his orthopedic surgery residency at the Hospital for Special Surgery, where he received the Lewis Clark Wagner Award for Excellence in Translational Research.
He then completed a fellowship in orthopedic sports medicine at HSS, serving as a co-chief administrative fellow and as an assistant team physician for the New York Mets and New York

Dr. Thacher is deeply committed to advancing the field of orthopedic surgery through research. He has published over 30 peer-reviewed articles and continues to actively engage in research endeavors, focusing on innovations in sports medicine, surgical techniques, and strategies to improve patient outcomes.
