Dr. Thacher earned his medical degree from Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons as a Dean’s Scholar and graduated as a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha honor society. He completed his orthopedic surgery residency at the Hospital for Special Surgery, where he received the Lewis Clark Wagner Award for Excellence in Translational research.
He then completed a fellowship in orthopedic sports medicine at HSS, serving as a co-chief administrative fellow and as an assistant team physician for the New York Mets and New York
Red Bulls. His experiences as a top collegiate and professional athlete give him unique insight into the demands of high-level sports and inform his approach to helping athletes and active
patients return to peak performance safely and efficiently.
