Danbury, CT - The American Association of Hip and Knee Surgeons (AAHKS) recently inducted orthopedic surgeon, Robert T. Deveney, MD, of Danbury Orthopedic Associates, as a member of the society. As a member, Dr. Deveney must demonstrate an interest in advancing orthopedic knowledge of the hip and knee joint and/or arthritic disorders, and be a member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons.

The surgeon must devote at least 50 percent of his/her medical practice to total hip or knee replacement and/or perform a minimum of 50 total hip and/or knee arthroplasties or osteotomies on the hip and/or knee each year. Dr. Deveney also is eligible to serve on committees of the Association, hold office in the Association and must maintain good professional and ethical standings in the community.

Established in 1991, the AAHKS is committed to providing educational opportunities to its members. Its mission is to promote education, research and advocacy related to the health and disorders of the hip and knee. The society’s vision is to be the premier organization of hip and knee surgeons in the United States. The association provides comprehensive and timely analysis of health policy issues for patients and physicians that affect hip and knee surgery. It also develops and maintains effective advocacy programs that will serve to ensure access to the highest quality of care for surgery of the hip and knee.
