Joint Replacement Surgery Increases in Use, Popularity

VoicesNews.com - Danbury, CT – Several years ago, joint replacement was considered a new medical advancement, but today, with more than 400,000 people each year undergoing knee replacement, such surgery is more common. The number of joint replacement patients is projected to grow by 650 percent for knees and 200 percent for hips by the year 2030 as more baby-boomers reach their 70s and 80s, according to Robert Deveney, M.D., an orthopedic surgeon at Danbury Orthopedic Associates and co-director of the Joint Replacement Program at Danbury Hospital.
