Madison Square Garden Events and New York Yankees

  • Coverage for games, concerts and other events for medical Medical/First-Aid offices.
2004 - 2008

PhD Thesis: Laboratory of Neurobiology and Genetics
The Rockefeller University.

  • Sponsor: Dr. Sidney Strickland. To assess the contribution of compromised neurovasculature to Alzheimer’s pathology, we evaluated the blood-brain barrier dysfunction and extravasation of the clot factor, fibrin(ogen), in mouse models of the disease. We determined that fibrin(ogen) contributes to the pathology due to an altered degradation-resistant structure when polymerized to fibrin.

Science Editor for NPR radio show, "Radio Lab," WNYC.

  • Edited scientific content, researched complex topics for the shows, and contributed interviews and blog entries.
2003 Internship

Cornell Center for Technology Enterprise and Commercialization (CCTEC)

  • Sponsor: Dr. Brian Kelly. Evaluated Cornell’s intellectual property and wrote a business plan for a startup company.

  • Sponsor: Dr. Pamela Zeitlin. “In vivo effects of phenylbutyrate on expression and trafficking of CFTR.” We evaluated the effects of phenylbutyrate drug on mRNA transcript levels for the mutant gene in mouse models of cystic fibrosis.
2000

Department of Physiology
Johns Hopkins Medical Institutions

  • Sponsor: Dr. William Guggino. “Effects of phenylbutyrate on murine model for cystic fibrosis.” We determined the appropriate dosage and pharmacokinetics of phenylbutyrate drug, when administered to mouse models of cystic fibrosis, which bear a mutation in the gene for CFTR.
