Free lunch and learn event! Find out what's new in the world of knee and hip replacements on Tuesday, January 29th, 12-1:30 pm at River Glen Health Care Center in Southbury, CT.  Dr. Robert Deveney will present a lecture "What's New in Joint Replacement" and answer questions from attendees.  Dr. Deveney is a Board Certified Orthopedic Surgeon with expertise in adult hip and knee surgery.  His special interests include minimally invasive joint replacement and arthroscopic surgery.

The Sports Medicine Society of Western Connecticut, a collaboration of the surgeons and physical therapy team at Danbury Orthopedics, are presenitng "TSR vs. Reverse TSR: Who? What? When? Where? and Why?", on Tuesday October 16th at 7 pm at the Danbury Orthopedics' Sports Medicine Center office at 73 Sandpit Road.  Dr. Henshaw will focus on current approach and outcomes for Total Shoulder Replacement Surgery, and will answer questions related to technique and follow up care.  The event is geared to medical professionals, athletic trainers and therapists who work with shoulder replacement patients, and will offer CEU credit.  Refreshments will be served.

Care of the musculoskeletal system is a major component of Physical/Occupational Therapy and Primary Care.  This program will cover a full range of upper extremity dysfunction and the latest treatment options.  This conference is designed for Primary Care Providers, Physician Assistants, Physical Therapists and Occupational Therapists.

Learning objectives include discussions on:

  • Surgical and non-surgical treatment options for shoulder, elbow and wrist dysfunction and the impact of these decisions on Physical Therapy
  • The indications for traditional versus reverse Total Shoulder Arthroplasty
  • The indications for arthroscopic intervention at the wrist
  • Surgical intervention for severe UE Trauma (ORIF/external fixation) and its potential impact on patients' functional use of the limb
  • Recognition of common elbow conditions on radiographic studies

The conference will take place on Thursday, October 25th, from 4-8:30 pm at the Creasy Auditorium/Robilotti Conference Rooms at Danbury Hospital.  The fee to attend is $20 and includes all course materials and dinner. Participation in the program offers 3 points of CME credit, 3 PT Contact Hours and 3 OT Contact Hours.

Dr. Philip Mulieri, M.D., Ph.D, will speak on Thursday, September 20th at 7:00 pm about currrent approaches to the management of lateral elbow pain.

Dr. Mulieri has particular expertise in the diagnosis and treatment of elbow and shoulder issues, and is a specialist in shoulder and elbow surgery, including arthroscopic surgery, shoulder and elbow replacement and complex reconstructions.  He is fellowship trained in shoulder and elbow surgery and was a visiting professor at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN, where he studied the most advanced techniques for the treatment of complex elbow problems.

The talk is presented by The Sports Medicine Society of Western Connecticut, an affiliation of health care professions in the greater Danbury area with special interest in Sports Medicine (including physicians, PAs, PTs, PTAs, ATCs, OTs, COTAs, nurses and coaches).  Under the direction of Dr. Michael Brand and Valory Ramsdell PT, the group strives to present an informal monthly forum for the presentation and discussion of sports medicine topics.

The presentation is open to the public and will take place at the Danbury Orthopedics' office at 73 Sandpit Road in Danbury, at 7:00 pm. Refreshments will be served.
